Team Starlings have been working very hard this week to create some absolutely fantastic fairytales with 'a twist!' We have been reading 'The Lost Happy Endings' and have been inspired to include lots of amazing descriptive language, gruesome characters, and twisted endings! 

We have been reading the Gruffalo! This week we used our tales toolkit bags to explore the story. We identified the character, setting, problem and solution of the story. Daffodils then retold the story in provision using picture cards and verbally telling the story. Well done! 

We have been working hard to include adverbs in our writing. We wrote instructions on what to do in the event of a fire, ensuring we were using adverbs to clearly explain how these instructions are to be carried out. 

In writing this term, we have been looking at the story of Odysseus. This week, we learnt about his adventures again the Sirens. We wrote instructions using conjunctions, about how Odysseus's sailors were able to avoid falling into the Sirens' trap. Then, we looked at Margaret Atwood's poem Siren…

This week we have read The Gruffalo! We have enjoyed reading the story and have selected key nouns and verbs from the story to add actions too. We explored these key words to ensure our understanding of the story. We loved joining in with retelling the story using our new actions!

Daffodils are starting to recognise and write their names! We have enjoy using our self registration photos and name cards each morning and are becoming more confident with recognising our names. This week, we have been using whiteboard pens to have a go at tracing our names.
