We had a great time at the Fire Station :)
Firstly, we walked to the Lichfield Trent Valley train station which was very exciting! We made our way up the stairs to the platform and then boarded the train. We were very lucky because we had the whole carriage to ourselves! When we arrived at Lichfield City train station we then walked for a few minutes up to the Fire Station.
When we arrived at the Fire Station, we were shown where the firefighters get changed into their firefighting uniform when there is an emergency and then we had the chance to look at the fire engine and we were even given a sneak peak inside!
Then, we had 5 different workshops to explore:
Fire safety - we were in an interactive pod where we had to spot the different fire hazards within our home and then what to do if a fire breaks out.
Rail safety - we explored the different risks of our railways and what we can do to stay safe and avoid these risks.
Money safety - we were shown all of the security features of a bank card and how we can keep our money safe.
Staying safe in public - a local PCSO talked to us about staying safe when we are out in public and ways in which we can be a responsible citizen.
Water safety - we spotted different risks around open water. We were shown how to stay safe, for example, recognising the flags on the beach to know where it is safe to swim and surf. We also explored who can help us if we find ourselves or someone we know in trouble.
Once we had completed all of the workshops we jumped on the train home and then got very wet on the walk back to school!
