Sunflowers have been exploring positional language in their books and in provision. They have use a variety of objects around the class room to show different positional language. 

In maths we have been tackling some tricky word problems linking to our times tables and division. Some of us then had a go at writing some questions of our own!

We have been learning all about subtraction. We recently came up with our own subtraction stories. We had to draw a picture and make up a story to go with our subtraction calculation. We did an amazing job!

In Team Meadow we are amazing at using the concrete resources to support our maths learning. We found the dienes really helpful when learning column addition. 

In Badgers this week, we are learning to recall and use the three times table. We learnt about how we can use known facts from the three times table to calculate other three times table facts by adding groups of 3 or subtracting groups of 3. 

This week in maths, we have been learning to use formal written methods for addition.  We have been practising column addition, where we have to rename 10 ones to 1 ten, which can be quite tricky. We made sure we were secure with the concept of renaming by using concrete materials so that we could…
