This week in maths, we have been learning to use formal written methods for addition. We have been practising column addition, where we have to rename 10 ones to 1 ten, which can be quite tricky. We made sure we were secure with the concept of renaming by using concrete materials so that we could physically take the 10 ones and exchange them for 1 ten. We then completed this process alongside the written method so see how they link.
